The Island is a barrier sand bar located at the southern tip of Texas close to the boarder of Mexico. It runs along the Texas coast for 30 miles and is 1/2 mile wide. Although it only inhabits 2000 people, it boasts more then 1/2 million visitors ever year.

South Padre Island is a great place to pick up kiteboarding because of the friendly teaching environment. We teach off a beach called “The Flats”, which is located about 2 miles north of the shop on the bay side. The Flats is a large beach with no buildings, trees, or obstructions to get in your way. The water is shallow for many miles and is about one meter deep which is less intimidating for those just learning. The water is warm year around and the wind is side off shore which makes learning safe and easy.
