We have 2500 square feet of retail space packed full of the best kiteboarding gear on the planet at prices you can afford. We even have kites inflated inside our high bay to demonstrate line attachement systems and the different kite shapes. We can pump up your kite and show you how everything works before or after you buy.

XLKITES-Houston Shop

Full kiteboarding demo and lesson center in South Houston. We teach people to kiteboard 7-days a week and are available for lessons on YOUR schedule. Lessons are all taught 1 on 1 with your own instructor and include jetski support. No more walking up wind! We teach the safest and most compete lessons in Houston. We are pure kiteboarding and paragliding, we don't try to sell or teach anything else. Come down for a few days and we'll teach you to ride. Lots of wind or no wind, we have the gear to make it happen!

Levee riding area

The Levee is great for any East or South-East wind. It has very shallow water that extends about 500yards or so out into Galveston Bay. South of the Levee is the Texas City Dike which extends about 5mi out into the bay. This is a great area for downwinders on days when the wind is out of the north. The inner part of the Texas City dike should be avoided because of concrete rip-rap and other sunken obsticals. The mid-bay end of the dike is ideal for kiting and down-wind landings as it is hard-packed sandy beach.

Lessons

"Thunder" and "The Hulk" are our lesson machines, we have the right gear for any wind condition on hand and ready for you to use. All of our equipment is brand new so you never get stuck learning on last years gear. With most of our brands of kite and board in our truck you can try the gear before you buy the gear during the lessons. Our instructors know how to get you up and riding. A new student can usually get up on the board after 4-5 hours of instruction. All lessons are taught using jetskis and we never teach in groups unless you choose to do so. All lessons are 1 on 1 with an instructor!

EVENTS

We host different local events like night rides and BBQs at the riding areas. These promote comaradere and give everyone an excuse to get out and ride. Riding at night can be a real treat, with a light system from XLKITES for the launch and landing area it can be safe too.

More Events

Events like Kite demos, like the one pictured to the right help us demonstrate the differences between the brands that we sell. We like to allow our customers a chance to demo our kites as often as often as possible. Buying a kite is an investment and although we sell all great brands, kite feel and performace does vary. Every rider has a different kite and board preference, we have kites and boards in stock that will fit any riding style or preference.
