Litewave and Globe Kite Demo

Litewave Dave is coming to Houston Texas to demo the 2007 Globe Kites and Litewave boards. He will be letting people try out the new gear at the levee park (click for directions)on the 5th.

Friday (4May07): BBQ and Equipment Presentation

XLKITES Houston Grand Opening and Cabrinha Demo

Kiteboarding Pros Damien LeRoy, Kevin Steen, and John Modica will be in town to demostrate some of the newest moves on brand-new gear from Cabrinha. This is grand opening event for the new XLKITES shop in Texas. (click for directions)

Wednesday (9May07):
(If its windy) Meet at the levee park (click for directions) from 2pm-8pm to demo the new Cabrinha gear, meet the pros, and see what new tricks they have ready for the Velocity games.

The XLKITES shop (click for directions) in Kemah will have an open house for dry-land training techniques from the pros including how to do handle-passes and other advanced tricks. There will also be new video screeings, Cabrinha gear presentations and free food.

Thursday (10May07): Backup wind day- if the grand opening was not held Wednesday due to lack of wind, all events will take place Thursday morning starting at 0900.

Velocity Games in Corpus, Texas

After our grand opening event we'll be heading over to Corpus Christi for the Velocity Games. We'll have free trainer kite sessions for the three day event. There will also be a both to promote the Gulf Coast Kiteboarders Association in Texas (www.gulfcoastkiteboarders.com).

Powered Paragliding Clinic with Francesco DeSantis

"Check" is one of the original powered paragliding instructors in the US. He lives in Sarasota FL and is flying in to the Houston area just to teach this clinic. Francesco is the founder/inventor of the i-Flyer system and has been teaching and manufacturing frames for as long as anyone else in the business. His website is www.PowerGlider.biz. No experience or pilots liscence nessessary for this training. We will take you from Zero to Hero in a week! Get your PPG1 or PPG2 certification with XLKITES Houston.

Camp includes:
-6 days of ground and flight instruction
-1-2 Tandem flights (flight with an instructor prior to solo)
-Equipment is provided for all lessons and clinics. If student equipment is bought a 20% discount for the clinic cost will be applied.

Cost:
$1000.00 per person and is limited to 6 students

Levee riding area

The Levee is great for any East or South-East wind. It has very shallow water that extends about 500yards or so out into Galveston Bay. South of the Levee is the Texas City Dike which extends about 5mi out into the bay. This is a great area for downwinders on days when the wind is out of the north. The inner part of the Texas City dike should be avoided because of concrete riff-raff and other sunken obsticals. The mid-bay end of the dike is ideal for kiting and down-wind landings as it is hard-packed sandy beach.

The new XLKITES shop in Clear Lake Shores is just minutes from the Kemah Boardwalk on Galveston Bay. We have inflated kites inside our main showroom as well as kites with bar systems attached in our highbay for customers to try before they buy. We a very large selection of more brand kites and boards than anybody else.
